There's a card I came across last game (I'm too new to the game to know the name of the card, and I don't care to sort through the decks for it) that as an event allows a player to set the DEFCON level to any level he chooses, including 1. I can't imagine the game putting in a suicide mechanism so then there must be a way to force the phasing player to give you this card to play its event immediately? I can't figure out that scenario though.

If this isn't one of the ways might there be another way to force DEFCON 1 on the phasing player's round?

How I Learned to Stop Worrying. One way it can be an autolose for the USSR:

- USSR player plays Grain Sales.
- US player chooses HILtSW from USSR player's hand.
- US player chooses to play HILtSW and sets Defcon to 1.
- USSR player loses.

It also works if the USSR player plays Star Wars when the US is ahead on the Space Race.
