Thread: Twilight Struggle:: Rules:: Mistake in Scoring Example (DeLuxe Edition Rules) ?

On page 18 of the deluxe edition rules the USSR player plays the Asia scoring card. The text reads :

USSR Action Round 4 : Asia Scoring (0 Ops). USSR gains 6 VP, for a total of 2.

Now looking at picture number 8 on which the scoring is based, I cannot for the life of me work out how the USSR scores 8 points.

Assuming that the 3 US influence in S.Korea should be flipped to indicate control I work it out as :

USSR : Dominance + 3 battlegrounds + 2 adjacent to super power = 12 points.
US : Presence and 1 battleground = 4

Which means the total is 8 points for the USSR.

Am I missing something or is this a mistake in the example ?
