That last thread is just about the common mistake of tryin to expand steamrollin' through two countries in a row. I think that rule was meant just to avoid precisely that.

Not that it's gonna happen many times. Most of us would have just played influence in Egypt before activating Suez Crisis, but it was my friend's first game and when I tried to explain him his "mistake" I found myself confounded by the rules.

This could make a lot of difference, of course. Triggering Suez and shoring up Israel a bit (most of us will probably have US influence in Lebanon, but if we don't...)

Anyway. I side with all of you. You can't make up infuence out of nowhere by using ops, BUT...

What should we do with the Iron Lady? Another side effect of 6.1.1 is that you can't play Iron Lady as the USSR, trigger the event and then use the ops to expand to Uruguay, since you had no presence in ARgentina at the beggining of the AR. I thought this was a nice catch. But now, if the spirit of the rule was meant to be "you can't go hopping through two countries", then we're making an exception for this particular card, basically. Has someone found a ruling for the powers that be about this?

And even if we ruled that you can't expand to an adjacent country. Could you use the points to place more inf. in Argentina itself?

I can't believe that after reading all the FAQS and collected rulings that a new ambiguous scenario arises for me almost every other TS gameplay...
