Boo hiss.
Just kidding.
I think it's naive to think that TS is for everyone. In fact, I can completely understand why someone would hate it, but rarely for the reasons that a lot of people actually give.
I completely agree. I do know why it isn't for me, and it is just a personal quirk. I love Memoir '44, the rest of the Commands and Colors system and games as different as Elder Sign and Arkham Horror, Space Hulk: Death Angel - The Card Game and CCG including Netrunner and Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, so I am well used to getting useless cards. My personal quirk though is getting cards that I have to use, and that actively hurt me or actively help my opponent. I prefer Hearts and Minds: Vietnam 1965-1975 because some of the cards aren't very good, but they are all mine!
And it is just personal taste. My friend and TS owner has desperately tried to get me to like this game (hence four plays, one of which I won) and we have analysed why I don't like it to death. I actually prefer direct combat games, but the issue of actively bad cards is the thing it seems to boil down to.
And why would I play a game I don't particularly like when there are so many I have played that I like more, and haven't played that I might like more?
Which is why I am interested in TS solo; maybe then I won't feel I am hurting myself all the time; instead I will be helping the "other me". Maybe not though, but it might be worth a try!
Cheers,
Matt
