I feel like that's more a function of jerky players than the fault of the game. When I'm teaching a new player, I'll usually play more gently - not take advantage of every little opportunity, not hit them with Red Scare for the second turn in a row, and so on. My goal is to let them enjoy the game, not to satisfy my ego my by thrashing a beginner. Will I let them win? No, but nor will I make it a one-sided walkover. That's no fun.
Not to mention, it's nice if you can give them a heads up on some of the obvious cards that might affect play as opposed to keeping them in the dark. At least, where you aren't both learning the game together.
