Thank you very much for the fast reply,
1) No scoring for presence then? because US has in total 5 countries and USSR 4
2) US has 3 VP's for BG countries but USSR has 3 VP for presence so net gai is 0?
3) US has 3 BG counties (so 3 points for BG) but USSR has 5 countries, so 3 points for presence? and the net gain will be 0 points for both?
As you can see the Presence scoring is my issue here

For case 1 both sides are scoring 6 VP, 3 VP for Presence, and 3 VP for 3 Battlegrounds. Presence is given when you have control of any 1 country in the region. Each battleground then also adds 1 VP apiece.
In 2, US has 3 VP for Presence, +3 VP for 3 battlegrounds. USSR has 3 VP for Presence, net +3 US.
In 3, it's the same situation for scoring as case 2.
Generally the easiest way to do it is first see if either side has Control. If they don't, check Domination (more countries total, more Bgs, at least 1 non-bg). If neither has Domination, both get Presence VPs plus the number of BGs they have, unless one side has no countries controlled in the region at all.
