Reason for Iran coup = you cannot failOnly the roll of 2 is a semi-fail, but even that is not terrible, as it will burn USA a 4 to ensure a 4/6 chance of succeeding(wiping USSR out of Iran means nothing to USSR, USSR will just coup back if you only have 1 influence in Iran)
The same cannot be said for a Italy coup.
If you go Socialist + coup, USA spreading into Asia is difficult to defend. Threatening Pakistan sounds good on paper but in reality Indo-Pakistan war is scary without control of Iran AND Afghanistan.
This is why you always coup Iran on the first AR given normal set up.
But if you play with USA +1, USSR does not automatically coup Iran.
And btw, I generally suggest people to play with no influence adjustment because this game, if played between good players, is balanced.
